Dumaguete City Tour

        Enjoy the distinctly old hometown ambiance of Dumaguete as you tour around the city. First to visit is the Silliman University Campus, the largest Protestant university in the Philippines founded by the American Presbyterian missionaries who came to Dumaguete in 1901. 

        The campus houses an exhibit of excavated artifacts and an ethnographic collection from various minority tribes in the country*. Drive through the busy streets of the city, passing by the Provincial Capitol and Rizal Boulevard, then make a brief stop at the monument of the Sisters of St Paul of Chartres. Who established the Saint Paul University in Dumaguete City in 1904.

        Visit the city’s famous architectural landmark, the Bell Tower which was erected in 1776 and the city’s public market complex. Then carry on to the  Pantaleon Villegas’ shrine in Bacong. Pantaleon Villegas also known as Leon Kilat, a native of Bacong who led the revolution in Cebu against Spain for Philippine Independence in 1898. Close-by is Bacong Church, a centuries-old stone church which houses a functional Pipe Organ installed by the Spaniards in 1894.

Apo Island Tour
